Janney's first TV role was on the soap opera "Guiding Light," where she played a maid.

Janney has appeared in every episode of the hit show "Mom," playing the lead character's mother.

In "The West Wing," Janney played the White House press secretary and won four Emmys for her role.

Janney has also done voiceover work, including in the animated movie "Finding Nemo" and the TV show "American Dad!" 

Janney has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

Janney has been nominated for 11 Emmy Awards in total, including for her roles in "Mom" and "Masters of Sex."

Janney has played a variety of roles, from a guidance counsellor in "Juno" to a grieving mother in "The Help."

Janney has also appeared on Broadway, earning a Tony nomination for her role in "Six Degrees of Separation."

Before acting, Janney was a competitive figure skater and even considered pursuing a professional career.

Janney is good friends with actress Anna Faris, who co-starred with her in "Mom."
